This cup follows Part 1 of my Decolonizing Faith Series: We Been Here
🕊️ Before the Bible, We Were the Blueprint
Before borders and boats, before the book became a weapon — we were here.
Africanoids, divine architects of creation, molded life from clay and starlight. We were the first engineers of breath and bone, melanin-kissed and sun-powered. Our rhythm was prayer; our laughter, vibration.
But difference was misunderstood. Those who lacked the sun’s kiss were cast out — not from hate, but from imbalance. Time marched on, and they returned — not seeking harmony, but dominion. And they brought a single story powerful enough to divide gods.
If this history stirs something in you, explore my Teach It Tuesday: Decolonizing Your Homeschool Curriculum — it’s a heart-centered look at teaching our babies truth without trauma.
💰 When Faith Became a Franchise
They didn’t just hand us a Bible — they handed us a business plan.
A masterfully written corporate manual designed to harvest minds, souls, and land. Their “God” came with marketing, messaging, and metrics. Missionaries were the PR team. Colonizers were the investors. The product? Obedience.
“We had the land and they had the Bible.
They said, ‘Let us pray.’
We closed our eyes to pray, and when we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land.” — Archbishop Desmond Tutu
That wasn’t faith — that was a spiritual startup built on our silence.
This isn’t just theology — it’s economics. I break down how systems profit from our spirit in Tea & Truths: The Price of Belief.
🔥 Why I Could Never Follow the God They Gave Us
Because that God was designed to keep us small.
That God watched the whip crack and called it discipline.
That God sanctified submission and sold heaven as hush money.
I can’t serve a God who partnered with oppressors.
I can’t kneel before the deity in their ledger.
So I left the church — with gratitude, not guilt.
I didn’t abandon God; I went home to the Source.
To the ancestors humming in my DNA, to the elements that baptize me daily. I talk to the sun now. I pour libations under the moon. My altar is my reclamation.
If this part hits home, take a breath and visit Third Eye Thursday: Dreaming in Our Mother Tongue — it’s about remembering what our spirit sounded like before translation.
🌿 Reclaiming the Divine
My altar glows with copper bowls, crystals, and candles.
I whisper psalms and proverbs from the Orishas.
The smoke carries messages to realms that never closed their doors.
See, they told us we were lost — but we been here.
We been divine.
We been chosen.
We’re just remembering the script they tried to rewrite.
So no, I don’t serve the God they gave me.
I serve the energy that made them.
The vibration that said “Let there be light,”
and melanin answered: “Already here.”
