Something Nubian

Over the past few months (full moons), I have been hoping to change the decor in our home!

And thanks to Facebook and it’s idea to read minds I found my style that matches me emotionally, spiritually, and economically the Boho style has caught my attention.

I even found a woman on Youtube who creates videos of her transformations in her home that is Afro-Boho and that is really awesome because that let’s me know that what I like can be combined with more than just a style with a name but a style that is based on who I am and what I love to see

The Bohemian style is not a traditional one, it is that of a rebellious approach

According to Google: Bohemian style is a fashion style strongly related to hippie fashion, in which natural fabrics, retro patterns, neutrals and warm shades merge with 70s style accents and a flair for statement accessories. Bohemian style is more than just a fashion trend.

This style to me personally. is similar to the African culture but with a twist, so I like to call it Afro-Boho, especially as most things came from Africa and the origin is almost never referenced.

But I digress,

What I would like to do is use black and white in every room, then throw in a splash of color per chakra. We currently, reside in a 3-bedroom apartment and therefore equals 7 rooms altogether.

Based on the areas of the chakras, will be a color that represents the rooms in our home, such as our kitchen would either be yellow or orange.

The sacral chakra rules the creative expression and the color orange, which cooking and our way of life is a way to express ourselves creatively.

Where as the solar plexus chakra rules our digestive system and the color yellow, and while it best to go with this option my pots and pans are copper, closer to the color orange. Which would mean, I would not have to purchase new pots and pans.

While it seems complicated, it is not, especially when I look at the colors and examples of the boho styled homes I’ve seen. I have something to use as an example to start from. See the collages I created below and tell me what you think …

But before you do, know that I do not plan to decorate in this area, which I wouldn’t mind but I definitely would have to consider my husband 😉
