🌌 Act I: The Arrival

Intro

I signed myself up for a writer’s challenge (because apparently I like to test my multitasking spirit 😅). The prompt that called my name was:

“A rogue planet enters the solar system, and its surface is covered in ancient ruins.”

Now, before you think this is just a sci-fi geek moment, let me explain—this ties directly into the heartbeat of Something NuBian. I’ve always believed our stories, myths, and cosmic wonders are sacred tools for healing and reflection. Science fiction, especially when braided with our ancestral lens, is another way to ask:

  • What do we do with power?
  • What do we inherit from those who came before us?
  • How do we balance survival with evolution?

So this isn’t just a short story—it’s a mirror. A chance to dream collectively, to explore what happens when ancient wisdom collides with modern chaos. After each act, I’ll leave you with journal prompts and reflection questions so you can journey alongside the characters.

Welcome to Act I: The Arrival. 🌌

The Story

The world was restless long before the astronomers made their announcement. Storms felt sharper, nights stretched heavier, and dreamers across the globe whispered of strange lights flickering just beyond the stars.

Then came the headline:
A rogue planet, unseen until now, is entering our solar system.

At first, it was thought to be another cold wanderer—an ice ball, a lifeless stone. But as images sharpened, the truth unraveled. Carved into its dark surface were ruins—colossal structures older than Earth’s pyramids, arranged in geometric patterns that pulsed with quiet power.

Dr. Amara N’Kosi, an archaeologist rooted in both science and spirit, leaned forward in disbelief as the satellite images loaded on her screen. These weren’t random craters. They were temples, cities… reminders. Glyphs sprawled across stone in patterns she had traced before, in dusty tombs along the Nile and whispered Dogon star maps.

“It’s speaking,” she murmured to herself, “but who will listen?”

Not far away, 17-year-old Kael woke up trembling. His dreams had been alive for weeks, filled with spirals of light and voices calling his name. He didn’t know why, but as the news spread, he felt it in his bones—this planet wasn’t just entering the solar system. It was returning.

And humanity? Humanity wasn’t ready.

Reflection & Journal Prompts

Stories like this are portals. They give us space to ask big questions about ourselves and our path. Take a moment to sit with these:

  1. If a rogue planet full of ancient ruins appeared tomorrow, would your first response be fear, curiosity, or reverence? Why?
  2. What ruins—ancestral, cultural, or personal—do you feel calling you back for deeper reflection?
  3. How do you usually respond when something unexpected disrupts your “orbit” in life?

Closing Note

That’s the first act. Just a glimpse of what happens when a cosmic wanderer pulls humanity into its orbit. In the next chapter, we’ll see what happens when we finally set foot on its surface.

Until then, keep your eyes lifted and your journal open. The cosmos always has something to say. 🌙✨
