From Soil to Soul: How I Blessed My Greenhouse and Built a Garden That Heals

I Don’t Just Grow Food. I Grow Freedom.

#SacredSoil, #HealingThroughPlants, #InnerGAligned, #ChakraHealing, #HomeschoolGarden, #AfroBohoGardening, #PlantMomMagic, #LegacyInTheSoil, #BlessTheRoots, #FibroHealingThroughNature,

When I decided to step deeper into my healing journey, I knew it couldn’t just be about meditation mats and incense smoke. No, Empress. It had to get real — real dirt, real seeds, real ancestral work. Thanks to my awesome husband and beautiful mother-in-love, that’s how I found myself staring at three wooden grow boxes (two inside our greenhouse, one outside) and planning a whole kingdom of broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cantaloupe, carrots, cauliflower, cucumber, eggplant, kale, okra, onions, romaine lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, watermelon, and zucchini.

But listen — we weren’t about to just toss seeds like a confused fairy. Oh no. There needed to be order, alignment, and Inner-G. We needed to know who should sit next to who — just like at a family cookout. Because not all veggies are vibing on the same frequency.

The Garden Battle Plan (a.k.a. Who’s Allowed to Sit Next to Who!)

Some veggies are best friends:

  • Broccoli loves chilling with onions, kale, and lettuce.
  • Cantaloupe likes hanging out with low-key greens like lettuce and carrots.
  • Spinach and Swiss chard love being neighbors.

Others? They’re messy and competitive:

  • Cabbage and watermelon? Drama queens — keep them apart.
  • Okra? Tall diva energy, needs her own spotlight.
  • Cucumber and cauliflower? Low-key beef all season long.

Understanding these plant relationships wasn’t just about getting a good harvest — it was about honoring the energy of every single living thing in my space. Maat style.

Layout Like a Legend: My Sacred Box Setup

Here’s how this Queendom is divided:

Box 1 (Inside Greenhouse — Leafy & Cool Bae Box):

  • Spinach
  • Swiss Chard
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Kale
  • Carrots
  • Onions (the guards)
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower

Box 2 (Inside Greenhouse — Heat & Hustle Box):

  • Okra (back row, tall and proud)
  • Eggplant (middle row, soaking the warmth)
  • Zucchini (front row, leaves like big afro crowns)
  • Cucumber (trellised up the side)

Box 3 (Outside Greenhouse — Runners & Raiders Box):

  • Watermelon (trailing left)
  • Cantaloupe (trailing right)
  • Cucumber (trellised)
  • Onions around the borders

And let’s not forget — marigolds sprinkled everywhere like little golden ancestors watching over everything.

The Garden Blessing Ritual: Rooted in Ancestors, Watered by Intention

Before I planted a single seed, I blessed my greenhouse.

  • I opened my circle: standing barefoot in my greenhouse wearing a kaftan and a white headwrap, ankh necklace resting over my heart.
  • I blessed the water and soil: speaking life into every molecule, asking the soil to hold my dreams.
  • I aligned the chakras of the garden: visualizing rainbow light seeping into the roots.
  • I planted with purpose: whispering blessings over every seed.
  • I sealed the blessing: pouring blessed water into the earth and shielding my greenhouse with golden light.

This wasn’t farming. This was an act of empowerment.

Why This Garden is More Than Plants

Every time I kneel down to plant a spinach seed or tie up a cucumber vine, I am also:

  • Healing my fibromyalgia, one breath of fresh air at a time.
  • Teaching my children what legacy looks like.
  • Aligning my chakras with the soil.
  • Building a sanctuary of sovereignty — a space where Black healing, Black joy, and Black abundance root deep.

This garden isn’t just food. It’s freedom spells growing on vines.

A Word for My Sisters Starting Their Garden Journey

You don’t need acres. You don’t need perfection. You just need love, intention, and a little sacred soil.

Plant something. Praise it with your whole heart. And watch how the Universe conspires to feed your soul.

Asé.

If this blog blessed your roots, share it with a sister, save it for your next planting season, and come back soon — because we’re just getting started, Queen!
