Small Worlds & Soul Exhaustion: A Music Monday Reflection

The Vibe Check

Welcome to Music Mondays with Reiki Ra-ess This week’s reflection is inspired by Mac Miller’s “Small Worlds.” One lyric in particular hit me like a truth bomb from the cosmos:

“Don’t tell me nothin’ but the truth / I’m tired, I don’t gotta spare a second…”

That line? Whew. That ain’t just music—that’s emotional CPR.

I didn’t start listening to Mac until after his transition, but this song found me when I needed to hear the kind of truth that sits quietly in your chest. That soul-tired, deeply human truth. And that’s what this blog is about today.

As a homeschooling mama, a wife, a Reiki healer, and a woman living with fibromyalgia and anxiety, I carry the kind of weight that doesn’t show up on scales. The kind of exhaustion that makes you question not just your schedule, but your spirit. It’s not about death. It’s about what it costs to keep living without support, without breath, without pause.

Music as Medicine
Mac wasn’t just performing. He was confessing. And sometimes, we need music to speak for us. His voice carried that weary wisdom. That tiredness that isn’t defeat, but a sacred pause. A whisper of, “I’m doing my best, but this hurts.”

Affirmation of the Week:
“I honor my exhaustion. I speak my truth. I keep showing up for myself with grace, not guilt.”

  • Journal Prompts:
  • What lyric, poem, or phrase keeps finding you lately?
  • How do you know when your spirit is asking for rest?
  • What’s one small thing you can do this week to refuel your soul?

Closing Vibes:
Music Monday isn’t just about sound—it’s about healing through harmony. And if today’s song gave your spirit a name for something you’ve been carrying… let it be a start, not a stop. Let it be a note of truth in your symphony of survival.

Asé, beloved. Catch you next Music Monday. #SoundtrackYourSoul #MusicMondayWithRaEss
