I Don’t Believe in God, But Before You Judge, Find Out Why (Series Introduction)

The statement alone might sound rebellious, controversial, or even offensive to some, but hear me out. I grew up surrounded by ideas and definitions of God that were boxed in by tradition, doctrine, and expectation. “Believe in God,” they said. But what happens when belief transforms into something else—when you know something to be true deep within your soul, and belief is no longer a strong enough word?

I don’t believe in God, because I’ve experienced God. I’ve seen the presence of this divine energy in the rising sun that shows up each morning, without fail. The sun is raised by no man’s hands. There are no strings attached to it, no system designed by human beings that guarantees its arrival. We can’t predict it, can’t control it—yet it appears. It rises, illuminating our world, and then it sets, leaving room for the moon to glow. No person can orchestrate this, and yet it all moves seamlessly.

In that constancy, I see the divine. I see spirit, not contained in churches, mosques, or temples, but in every leaf that sprouts, in every breath of wind, in every bud that blossoms in its own time. I don’t need faith in an abstract idea; I have connection. I know that there is a source, an energy that flows through each one of us, that cares for nature and keeps the universe in perfect rhythm—an energy that isn’t bound by any one title or name.

For me, the journey moved from believing in a God out there to recognizing the divine within and around me. My spirit has grown to embrace this connection not as a mere belief system, but as a knowing. A knowing that love, resilience, and growth are all sacred. A knowing that there is a light in each of us, and that our essence is part of something vast and immeasurable.

So, no—I don’t “believe” in God the way you might have heard people talk about God. I don’t need to believe when I can feel the divine presence living and breathing all around me. I’m guided by it, humbled by it, and in awe of its magnitude. And it’s okay if my way doesn’t fit yours. But before you judge, know that there is depth here—a journey of spirit that I welcome you to explore. Why don’t I believe in God you ask, because I know God (the Most High)

I may not use the term “God” in the traditional sense anymore, but I know one thing for sure: whatever name you give it, the energy that moves the stars and makes flowers bloom is beyond the grasp of our minds—and to know it is to realize that we don’t need names or titles for it to be real.

A Series: Seeing the Divine in All Areas of Life

This is just the beginning of a series where I will explore how I see the divine manifesting across all nine areas of people activity: economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion – spirit (ka), sex, and war. I want to begin with the spirit, or ka, as it forms the foundation of how I understand the divine presence. This journey through each aspect of our lives will show how interconnected everything is and how the divine energy flows seamlessly through them all.

Stay tuned as I dive deeper into each of these areas, starting with how I see spirit and religion intertwined, not in the traditional doctrines, but in the essence of our daily lives and experiences. Let’s redefine what it means to recognize divinity, beyond belief, and in the very fabric of our existence.
