The time change always sneaks up on us, and this year is no different!
From my Positive Inner-G Coach POV, the upcoming time shift, especially the fall back, brings a mix of adjustments and opportunities for balance. Here’s how we can navigate it gracefully:
1. Sleep Rhythms and Fibromyalgia:
Let’s be real, adjusting the clock an hour backward can throw off sleep schedules, which can be a significant issue, especially for those managing fibromyalgia. The body is sensitive to even the slightest changes, so this is the time to prioritize rest and relaxation. Start adjusting your bedtime gradually a week before the change—15 minutes earlier each night—to minimize the shock to your internal clock.
2. Energy and Balance:
The shorter daylight can impact our energy levels. From an energy balance perspective, this shift might initially feel like a depletion. However, it’s also an opportunity to honor our body’s natural inclination to slow down. I’ll be incorporating more throat and third eye chakra work into my routines during this transition to help align my internal energy with the changing environment.
3. Homeschooling Routine:
With the days getting shorter, the homeschool day might feel longer. I’ll be adjusting my homeschool curriculum to start earlier in the day, taking advantage of natural light, and perhaps ending earlier to allow for some afternoon self-care activities. It’s an opportunity to teach my kids about the seasons and how nature’s cycles can guide our daily lives.
4. Reiki Practices:
For my Reiki healing work, I’ll adjust sessions to align with the earlier sunsets, creating a serene, cozy environment with candles and warm teas. I’ll be incorporating grounding practices to help myself and my clients adjust energetically to the seasonal shift. More Sei Hei Ki for emotional healing and balance, and some Cho Ku Rei to seal in warmth and light during this cooler, darker period.
5. Spiritual Practices:
The time change is like a gentle nudge from the universe, inviting us to turn inward. I’ll be using this season to work on introspective activities like journaling and dream interpretation—delving into the dream journal prompts I’ve crafted. The fall back is the perfect time to reflect, realign, and embrace the deeper layers of our inner world.
6. DIY and Creative Projects:
With longer nights ahead, it’s a perfect excuse to indulge in some evening DIY or crafting sessions. I’ll take advantage of the slower pace to dive into projects that require a more meditative, relaxed mindset, like paper crafting or creating new content for my chakra worksheets.
7. Self-Care and Plant Mom Life:
My plant babies will be feeling the change, too, as they get less natural light. I’ll be moving them closer to the windows and incorporating grow lights where necessary. This is also a great reminder to focus on nurturing myself—taking more warming and aromatic showers, enjoying flower baths, and indulging in nourishing, hearty meals to keep my inner light glowing.
8. Preparing My Audience:
For my Something Nubian community, I’ll be creating content that speaks to the time change, offering tips on how to adjust energy, sleep routines, and the importance of self-care during this transition. I might even share some astro insights, noting how the longer nights can serve as a time for reflection and preparation for the new year.

In essence, while the time change can initially feel like a disruption, it’s really an opportunity to slow down, reassess our routines, and connect with the more introspective energy of the season. As a modern Renaissance Empress, I’m taking it as a chance to weave wisdom, healing, and balance into each day, helping myself and my community adjust with grace and a bit of humor, of course!
