From Necessity to Mastery: How Canva Elevates My Everyday Hustle
Introduction:
I was taught about Canva while learning to self-publish my second book/journal. On my first book: The Black Woman’s Guide to Minding Her Own Business, I reached out to a friend to create my cover but could not afford him on the second book. It was not easy, but I began to make my way around the platform daily learning my way around designing, elements, fonts, colors, and uploading/downloading projects once completed. By not giving up when frustrated and working on it daily, I was able to get more comfortable with the tool.
Why I Started Using Canva:
I started using Canva while in a self-publishing group. We discussed the importance of self-publishing and the many ways to do most of the work to save money on getting it done.
Initially it was difficult to embrace something new, but I was always intrigued by graphics and images so this gave me the insight to making the things I loved like book and magazine covers, memes, and social media graphics this was a solution to a lot of my problems.
Without having a background in graphic design, Canva provided me with the ability to create quality content using elements and design templates.
Canva Enhances my work with premade texts, effects, and animations.
I am all over the place as a mom, wife, homeschooling plant mom with side hustles and I love to share this with those I am connected to on social media, I do so with eye-catching posts and stories using Canva graphics and Chat GPT
Canva is helpful in creating homeschool materials, worksheets, and engaging visuals to support my curriculum, I use it to create coloring pages, crossword puzzles, and colorful graphics to help support educational projects

I currently use Canva to create personal projects, like blogs, custom journal covers, planner pages, and book designs
Once I learned that you can be certified in Canva I thought about how this would be another skill I could leverage.
After using Canva for so long, the platform would acknowledge how many projects have been completed. This was rewarding but also worth sharing with others but getting certified gave me a way to deepen these skills so that I may explain how making these graphics in detail to others who need the training and do not know how. By getting this training it allowed me to add value to my projects.
Canva can work for you too, even on your current job, especially if you create presentations or a team lead.
Canva is so versatile, I can use it to create content for social media, blogs, homeschool materials and self-publishing. My journey with Canva was not easy in the beginning, I became frustrated at times, but I would use the tools from chakra balancing to help with the times I wanted to give up. This platform is good for anyone who want to improve their use of graphics, enhance their capabilities, and be seen.

Learning a new skill is always a plus in this world, especially for Women using technology, it is something that will never go away and is needed in all facets of life. Canva is a tool that will improve visuals for personal or business.
If you are looking to step up creating customized designs tailored to your brand, homeschooling materials, or any personal projects I am here to help. I offer a one-on-one training course to anyone wanting to improve their skills.
Sending positive inner-G,
La Trecia Doyle-Thaxton
