Amber! Amber!

Some lines from television and movies never let us forget an actor/actress.

I strongly believe my niece Amber was named after Stacy Dash’s character from Mo Money, a film written in 1992 by Damon Wayans. However, Ambers’ boyfriend Tom played by Henry Lennix stood out with his annoying voice, especially with his jokes and when she finally chose to cut things off with him.

Here is a clip of Damon Wayans character making fun of him:

Granted, it can be very difficult to move on from someone as beautiful as her, but in real life he had no difficulty. Henry wasn’t looking for a career before he found her. His career was established as early as 1983, when he was a standby in Bad Boys staring Sean Penn.

I picked Henry Lennix today because I saw him in a 1996/7 Diagnoses Murder episode in which he played in six and am always in awe to see a Black man/woman working.

As people of color, historically we not only used as slaves but for entertainment. We truly have evolved and his work has shown evolution is possible!

Lennix acted in 118 films, television series and video games, produced ten, directed two and written at least one where Actress Victoria Rowell appeared with him again twenty years later; talk about full circle!

As a parent who homeschools, I teach my children we are more than entertainers and we must give credit where it is definately due.

Lennix stayed employed and out of negative headlines for thirty plus years. A lot of Black actors and actresses get black balled and portrayed poles apart from that of whites and subsequently more memorable. Let’s give this Black man a hand!
