If you are an educator or parent and are starting to think about homeschooling and saying to yourself “I need direction”. This would be a great read for you.
A lot of times there are significant reasons but know the signs before you making the decision so it won’t be decided on too late.
Do not wait until your child has issues getting along with others accompanied with issues taking direction from those in the position to direct them.
Many parents ignore signs to homeschool for their own personal reasons, these reasons may cause stress on both the parent and child relationship or their relationships with others.
As a parent who have children over a decade apart, a lot of choices were made from previous experiences. One day my oldest daughter came home from school and said her teacher told her that I must have a dedicated account already set up for her college fund and then asked if I had one. I should have confronted or spoken to her teacher about it but instead I lashed out at her. In hindsight, she was right however, I was a single mother struggling to make ends meet as it was.

Now let’s analyze this more … money is always going to be the initial obstacle. One would began to ask themselves many questions, especially “who is going to pay for it?”
What we fail to do in the Black Community or Diaspora is use our resources. Is Big Mama working? What about others in the family who may be able to come on board to help with this task?
This is the biggest obstacle to tackle since according to blackgenocide.org 1,876 abortions are performed every day (that is 684,740 annually). Most pregnancies are either unwanted or planned, so proper planning for the child to learn would not be first and it should be. The other issue would be mothers sending their child into a system to learn from that is not of their own.
Example, Christian, and Muslims send their children to institutions that coincide with their faith so that they could learn about their culture so their child will be educated accordingly, this is why homeschooling would be beneficial, especially if you are not either and do not agree with public school teachings.

I remember being terrified when I had to explain to my oldest that I would no longer celebrate any holidays, first off there was no appreciation and second there was no soul fulfillment in celebrating a holiday when some of the originations was not truly the reason for the season which turned into greed and blindly consuming unnecessary goods to uplift the family unit.
Black businesses have the least amount of companies on the stock trade and learn less about self-preservation in school, thus homeschooling.

When you add up all the reasons why you would like to homeschool these may be questions you could start with:
Why did you decide to homeschool?
This will drive some of the decisions as to HOW to homeschool. If you find that your child is not learning information that would benefit them you could definitely implement this in your curriculum.
How old are your children?
Children should have knowledge of certain information at a particular age when choosing what they should learn start from the basics and build on it every year if you find they are able to grasp it, easily, by all means, add on to your plan.

What is your approach to education/educational philosophy?
Determine your state laws. All states are not the same as far as what information is provided to pass them to the next grade. In Florida, the child must be evaluated by a certified teacher that would sign off on verifying what the child knows and if it is based on their standard grade level, they will also advise if the child is on an advanced level to help them with moving ahead.
What curriculum do you want: a religion base or Pan African?
Some (parents or) states do not require a curriculum, however, proper planning is most efficient. By not choosing a curriculum you are able to teach freely as long as a plan in place, there will be a success.

In closing, a great advantage to homeschooling is the ability to direct the education in the way that is most appropriate and coincide with your own values: mental, spiritual, and physical. Most can not afford a private school education and are not pleased with public school. Educating from home prevents peer pressure and bullying, however, promotes individualized learning style.
