It is normal to be unhappy with things that we can change but do not know how or situations we can not change although hard to ignore. There will be adversities and oppositions everywhere you go while it is healthy to have an opinion remember to stay true.
Take a trip or long drive
In 2013, Malala Yousafzai published her aoutbiography called I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban and blogged about female civil rights and education in Pakistan. Malala was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
What about the recently deceased Prince Roger Nelson who sued Warner Bros for his contract. His heroic act changed the way artists respect themselves and the way they make their money. We believe that they are living the American Dream but in reality they are making someone else richer and renting!
Sometimes you have to be inspired by others elsewhere to realize that change is everywhere.
Pick a hobby
There are alot of things I had overcome in life; my parents divorce at 7, my brothers moving away from home and starting their own families, becoming a mother at 15, being abused by 20, arrested, convicted and under Federal supervision for 2 years by 22 and still working for someone else, instead of myself. I finally stopped allowing those things to affect me.
I get up every morning and give thanks that those circumstances are not affecting me anymore. It took a real long time! I had to overcome alot of blame and embarrassement and before I knew it a decade passed me by and those individuals did as well. They went on with new relationships, jobs, homes, wealth and experiences while I stayed stuck in the past.
I had to find something to do to correct my thinking, so I began to write again.
Find a focus group
One day, I began to learn about purging and Law of Attraction and things began to change almost instantly. I embraced the Melanated Creatress that I was and decided only to look back for reference, not sorrow. I borrowed wisdom, knowledge and understanding and I still make some of the same mistakes, but not many.
Stay busy, stay positive
I began to acknowlege that I have made plenty of accomplishments however I allowed being introvert and empath slow me down or shy me away from circumstances and for good reason. Oprah told Iyanla Vanzant that she was not ready for her first show and it was cancelled. Iyanla admitted she should have listened to Oprah. There were some things she was not aware of but became very fast and it was not what she expected, such as being asked to tone down her look by perming her hair and other image changes that she was not willing to change. Her show was over and her life in bankruptcy.
Iyanla apologized to Oprah publicly and now she has the show she is happy with; all because she stayed the course busy and positive.
Focus on evolution
I turned down a proposal from a millionaire who asked me to do the same (perm my hair). Do I regret it? Only when my fridge is bare and I have no gas in my car, which is rare. You change the world by keeping your spirit healthy. You have to love and respect who you see in the mirror, not what others want to see.
Don’t hold back
Over time, I finally made many accomplishments: obtaining my Associates Degree in Business Administration, having children again when I said I would not, starting my own Virtual Assistance company called Alluvial Business Consulting & Writing Services and publishing a book finally called The Black Woman’s Guide to Minding her Own Business ( http://www.lulu.com/shop/la-trecia-doyle/the-black-womans-guide-to-minding-her-own-business/ebook/product-22658027.html). It felt good to reach my goals in the timing allowed.
One day at a time
You can not change the world in one day but you can make small changes that would mean the world to you and someone else in it.
